The flowers on the back represent special vases in metal with gold and animal flowers that they put in the churches in Genova during the Lenten period with candles all over. Opposite of usual tradition it is the priest that puts the candles and lights them. The parishioners come and blow the candle to make their prayers. I have many memories of this and watching women come in and blow the candles, it seemed like such a magical moment. The opposite side of the vase depicts a woman blowing one and I tried to capture the magic of this moment. During the Easter ceremony they are all put on the cross and it is magnificent. xx, KUKY
