Le Provencal is a tribute to something I've had in the back of my mind for many years. It is about the makeup bag of my aunt. She wore a lot of makeup. And I must say, this is one of the foundations of my creativity. I started to be intrigued by colours because my mother and aunt were Avon girls. At the time, an Avon girl would have a case with all of the products inside. I remember the most beautiful palette of reds and glittery colours were in that beauty case. Especially the lipstick samples, the were miniature lipsticks with a fantastic smell. I started to draw with these. And I remember the inside of the makeup bag my aunt had was a provencal print and I wanted to have it around me again. Thats why I made this painting. xx, KUKY
