In 2014 I was invited by the mayor of Florence to make a personal exhibition in Villa Fani for the 500th anniversary of Michelangelo. In that occasion I met a very famous fresco painter that wanted to talk to me privately, he definitely became one of my masters. He asked me directly if I was destroying part of my production, At the beginning I didn't understand, so I answered that I wasn't. But I had this dilemma since long time before I met him. I didn't know if I would have to keep everything or to get rid of part of it. And because nothing is a hazard, this person confirmed for me that I had to destroy part of my early works. Just asking me, if you will die today, would you like to become famous with some of your artwork you don't like yourself? I was horrified. The first thing I did when I came home was to destroy and repaint part of my production. This painting is one of those. But, funny enough, when I repainted the canvas to be white, the colour was not absorbed and the day after the lady was there again like a Phoenix coming back from the past with a new image. xx, KUKY
