When I was a kid I grew up with my grandparents in their mountain house in the Dolomites. The neighbours were quite a-typical. The owner of the house was an old woman considered the witch of the village and her nephews were quiet strange too. I used to play with them on a big tree where little by little we carved a cavity into the base that became a portal between two different worlds. I went back there when I was in my 30s and the tree was not there anymore. So I keep thinking that I dreamed of it and wondering if it's only when we are kids that we can pass this portal. But the final question to myself is, where did we go? I knew perfectly as a kid where we were going but as an adult I just don't know. It's like a beautiful dream you know you had but yet you can't remember. It's as if kids have an ancestral wisdom that as we grow up we loose completely. I guess that for me, painting is trying to be in touch with that wisdom. xx, KUKY
